SAUBHAGYA Scheme was launched in Manipur by Shri R K Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Power (I/C) and New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India and Shri N. Biren Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Manipur on 28th November 2017, to achieve universal household electrification in the State.


Scope of work includes


1.     Providing last mile connectivity and electricity connection to all un-electrified households in rural and urban areas though grid network.


2.   Providing Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) based standalone systems for un-electrified households located in remote and inaccessible villages/habitation, where grid extension is not feasible or cost effective. 


A fund of Rs. 181 crore was sanctioned by REC Limited for implementation of the scheme in the state. The target for universal household electrification in the state was achieved in the month of December 2018. This achievement was also recognised by Shri R K Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Power (I/C) and New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India.  In total 1.09 lakhs households has been electrified in the state since the inception of the scheme in November 2017. Of these households, 1,05,867 households are electrified through grid and 3,387 households through off-grid solar module.
