PM Surya Ghar- Muft Bijili Yojana

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, has launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana on 29th February, 2024 to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity for sustainable development and people’s well-being, with an investment of over Rs. 75,000 crores, this Scheme has been launched with the following objectives:

a)                   To achieve 1 crore rooftop solar system (RTS) installation in residential sector.

b)                  To help provide free/low-cost electricity to 1 crore households up to 300 units of electricity per month by installation of rooftop solar.

c)                   To produce renewable electricity of 1,000 billion units through the capacity installed under the scheme, which will result in reduction of 720 million ton of CO2eq emission during the 25 years of lifetime for rooftop solar projects.

d)                  To develop the required enabling ecosystem for rooftop solar projects, including regulatory support, manufacturing facilities, supply chain, vendor network, operation & maintenance facilities, etc., in the country.

e)                   To boost local economy and employment generation along with enhanced energy security

   2.      Eligibility criteria for Central Financial Assistance:

i)        The consumer/applicant should be Residential consumer (domestic).

ii)       The scheme will support the installation of grid-connected rooftop solar projects in the residential sector through Central Financial Support (CFA) support from the Central Government with the Net metering mechanism.

iii)     Total tentative cost & CFA (Central Financial Assistance)/Subsidy for Residential Consumers is given below:

    3.  Mode of implementation:

i)                    Any eligible consumer should apply only through National Portal “www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in” and to avail the benefits of the scheme.

ii)                  The consumer have to choose the approved vendors listed in the National portal for the state of Manipur.

iii)                MSPDCL is the state Nodal Agency for implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna scheme for the state of Manipur.
